Description

  • Design and build high-throughput, low-latency Node.js and Go services on critical platform paths.
  • Own systems end to end, including architecture, design documentation, coding, testing, rollout, and production health.
  • Model and optimize SQL and NoSQL data layers for high-volume reads, writes, indexing, and atomic updates.
  • Build queueing, caching, and rate-limiting systems for resilient burst-traffic handling.
  • Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces to monitor system health.
  • Debug production incidents, implement fixes, and lead post-mortems through closure.
  • Review code and mentor engineers to improve engineering quality.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of backend engineering experience with deep hands-on Node.js and/or Go experience.
  • Experience designing queue-based systems with Pub/Sub, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Cloud Tasks, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, including consistency, idempotency, fault tolerance, and partial failure.
  • Hands-on experience with Redis or other in-memory data stores, including caching strategies and failure modes.
  • Strong SQL or NoSQL database skills, including schema design, indexing, and high-volume query optimization.
  • Ability to write clear design documents and rigorous test cases.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted engineering, including reviewing and directing agents to produce accurate, tested production code.
  • Experience with GCP, MongoDB, Firestore, ClickHouse, or Elasticsearch preferred.
  • Experience building or scaling messaging, automation, or event-driven platforms preferred.
  • Experience taking systems from 0 to 1 or rebuilding systems without service disruption preferred.
