Description

  • Define and own the long-term identity architecture strategy for Instacart's Okta platform, including governance frameworks and architectural patterns.
  • Establish and own Infrastructure-as-Code engineering standards and reusable Terraform frameworks for identity and access systems.
  • Design and guide the office network architecture strategy across San Francisco, New York City, and Toronto, including zero-trust segmentation.
  • Own the IT endpoint strategy for Mac and Windows MDM systems and replatform endpoint management where needed.
  • Serve as the technical authority for major IT incidents and lead post-incident learning programs and systemic improvements.
  • Identify and build opportunities to advance Corporate Engineering and IT through AI adoption and AI-native tooling.
  • Drive access governance and compliance architecture in partnership with Security Engineering and Compliance.
  • Act as a technical force multiplier by developing senior engineers, improving standards and documentation, and owning the technical roadmap for identity and network platforms.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate IT engineering or a related field, with deep expertise in identity and access management and endpoint systems.
  • 5+ years of hands-on ownership of an enterprise Okta tenant at scale with 5,000+ users.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing identity governance and automation using Okta Workflows, Okta Identity Governance (OIG), or an equivalent IGA platform.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Terraform, including reusable module frameworks and IaC engineering standards.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python or PowerShell, plus REST API and webhook integration experience.
  • Experience with endpoint management systems in a mixed Mac and Windows environment.
  • Experience with enterprise network infrastructure, including firewalls, routing/switching, wireless, and zero-trust architecture.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and business audiences.
  • Experience working in a high-growth, distributed-workforce environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a staff-level or principal engineer in Corporate Engineering or Enterprise IT is preferred.
