Description

  • Design, build, and operate AI-powered services and internal applications that improve developer and operator productivity at scale.
  • Implement back-end services in Python, Go, or Java and integrate foundation models through APIs and open-source frameworks.
  • Apply techniques such as retrieval-augmented generation and vector search where appropriate.
  • Own projects end-to-end, including requirements, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and iterative improvements.
  • Participate in on-call support and improve system reliability, latency, and cost efficiency.
  • Partner with Developer Platform, ML Platform, Security, and Legal teams to ensure safe and compliant AI usage.
  • Define success metrics, track adoption and productivity signals, and run experiments and A/B tests to measure impact.
  • Create and maintain shared tooling, libraries, and documentation for applied AI development.
  • Mentor teammates and contribute technical leadership in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production services.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in at least one of Python, Go, or Java.
  • 2+ years of experience integrating ML or LLM capabilities into production applications using tools such as OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, or LlamaIndex.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, containers such as Docker, and orchestration with Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency with SQL and data modeling.
  • Experience building or maintaining data pipelines using tools such as Airflow or Dagster.
  • Experience owning services end-to-end, including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and on-call rotation participation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience adapting or fine-tuning foundation models and implementing retrieval-augmented generation with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, or Elasticsearch with vector search is preferred.
  • Experience building internal developer tools or platforms adopted by 100+ engineers is preferred.
  • Experience measuring developer productivity using DORA/SPACE, instrumenting analytics, and running A/B or multivariate experiments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AI safety, privacy, and compliance practices such as PII redaction, guardrails, moderation, and data residency considerations is preferred.
  • Experience with event-driven systems and microservices such as Kafka or Pub/Sub is preferred.
  • Ability to build lightweight front-ends for internal tools using React and TypeScript is preferred.

  • Base pay range of $168,000 to $177,500 USD for Canadian candidates, based on permanent work location.
