Description

  • Lead a team of engineers across backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure to deliver scalable and secure software.
  • Drive the technical and product vision for FoodStorm in alignment with Instacart’s platform strategy.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of backend services, APIs, integrations, and UI components.
  • Guide architectural decisions and the implementation of secure, reliable, cloud-native systems.
  • Partner with Instacart teams to support retailer integrations and cross-platform initiatives.
  • Oversee production systems, including reliability, performance, and incident response.
  • Improve engineering processes to increase efficiency, predictability, and quality.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, growth, and mentorship for engineers.
  • Promote best practices in coding, testing, documentation, observability, CI/CD, and security.
  • Balance business priorities with scalable and secure technical solutions.

Requirements

  • Proven track record as a hands-on technical leader or engineering manager.
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams of 6+ engineers.
  • 8+ years of experience in web application engineering.
  • Highly proficient in React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft .NET and C#.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft SQL Server or SQL Azure, including T-SQL, schema design, and stored procedures.
  • Strong experience delivering secure software aligned to OWASP standards.
  • Experience with Azure services, AKS, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Familiarity with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Ability to craft and execute engineering roadmaps aligned to product goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration experience with Product, Professional Services, or customer-facing teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Structured, proactive communication and strong stakeholder management.
  • Experience with Go, Rust, or Ruby frameworks is preferred.
  • Experience building enterprise-grade or retailer-facing systems is preferred.
  • Experience working directly with customers or partners in a technical capacity is preferred.
  • Experience enabling developer productivity and velocity, including AI-supported development, is preferred.
  • Experience driving 0-1 technical or product innovation is preferred.
  • A leadership style grounded in trust, clarity, and empowerment is preferred.
  • Pragmatism and business awareness in technical decision-making are preferred.
  • Strong ability to navigate both a startup-like environment and Instacart-scale operations is preferred.
  • Passion for building great teams and great software is preferred.
