Description

  • Contribute to xet-core, the open-source Rust project that powers hf-xet and the Hugging Face Hub client ecosystem.
  • Design, build, and operate features in the Xet Storage backend.
  • Work across the storage layer that supports large model repositories, datasets, and Spaces.
  • Develop low-level, high-performance code for large-scale systems.
  • Help maintain and improve production storage infrastructure used by the broader Hugging Face platform.
  • Collaborate within a small, high-trust, low-process, async, remote team.
  • Use AI tools to help move development and delivery faster.
  • Own work end to end in a dynamic role with evolving challenges.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience building and scaling distributed systems, storage, or networking infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in a low-level systems language, with Rust strongly preferred.
  • Experience working independently in a high-trust, low-process environment.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, async, fully remote environment.
  • Experience building production systems software.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and take ownership end to end.
  • Passion for building simple, robust, and scalable systems.
  • Experience designing efficient, high-performance, fault-tolerant data storage and retrieval systems (preferred).
  • Experience operating production systems, including monitoring, alerting, and distributed debugging and recovery (preferred).
  • Familiarity with git internals, cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or Kubernetes, databases, or networking (preferred).
