Description

  • Own end-to-end cloud infrastructure strategy across AWS, GCP, Azure, IBM, and OCI, including architecture, capacity planning, maintenance, resourcing, and vendor strategy.
  • Drive cloud cost optimization through rightsizing, committed spend, tagging, chargeback discipline, and waste reduction while maintaining reliability and performance.
  • Partner with executives to communicate infrastructure investments, tradeoffs, roadmaps, budgets, and planning decisions.
  • Lead build-versus-buy, multi-cloud, and centralization decisions, documenting and defending strategic tradeoffs.
  • Manage cross-functional dependencies with Security, Data, and Product Engineering teams to remove blockers and protect delivery timelines.
  • Build, mentor, and lead infrastructure, platform, and SRE teams, including coaching, performance reviews, and expectation setting.
  • Own infrastructure security, disaster recovery, compliance, GDPR considerations, and incident management for highly available platforms.
  • Review infrastructure-as-code and architecture, contributing hands-on when needed to unblock key milestones.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of infrastructure or platform engineering experience, including 4+ years leading infrastructure strategy and budgets in distributed systems environments.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives across matrixed organizations.
  • Demonstrated, measurable cloud cost optimization results.
  • Experience presenting to and influencing C-level executives using data-backed analysis.
  • Deep hands-on experience with at least one major public cloud: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools and strong networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Knowledge of scalable, high-performance, event-driven infrastructure and reusable cloud components.
  • Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant platforms and managing distributed or European teams; GDPR, data residency, or EU labor-law awareness is a plus.
  • People-management experience focused on coaching and developing engineers and managers; CNAPP or FinOps experience is preferred.
