Description

  • Own a core system end to end, including technical roadmap definition and delivery across a multi-phase area.
  • Set technical direction and drive progress against a 6–12 month roadmap.
  • Resolve cross-team dependencies and navigate ambiguity to keep work moving.
  • Identify, mitigate, and resolve technical risks before they become incidents.
  • Lead production incident response within the domain and own reliability outcomes.
  • Build tooling, libraries, and runbooks to reduce operational pain and technical debt.
  • Raise engineering quality through code reviews, design reviews, and mentorship.
  • Roll out major features with appropriate monitoring, telemetry, and failure-domain planning.
  • Improve team workflows and processes to drive better outcomes.

Requirements

  • Autonomous ownership of a production technical system end to end, including setting direction and delivering against a multi-month roadmap.
  • Strong distributed systems experience, including state, consistency, failure modes, and unreliable networks.
  • Experience building software that communicates with physical devices, such as cameras, sensors, or embedded systems.
  • Proven operational ownership, including production incident response, monitoring, runbooks, and toil reduction.
  • Ability to mentor other engineers, set quality standards, and influence across groups without authority.
  • Experience using AI-augmented development tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot with sound judgment on output quality.
  • Experience as a change agent who improves systems and leaves teams better than found.
  • Experience with AWS IoT Core for device communication or fleet monitoring at scale is preferred.
  • Experience with video pipeline tools such as GStreamer, HLS, WebRTC, or similar streaming technologies is preferred.
  • Experience with the company stack, including .NET Core, Python, MongoDB/DocDB, Redis, and RabbitMQ, is preferred.
  • Experience supporting field hardware, including firmware updates, remote diagnostics, and connectivity triage, is preferred.
  • Ability to work in Lincoln, NE, or remotely from one of the listed approved states is required.
