Description

  • Advise the COO, Executive Director, and leadership team on HR strategy, workforce trends, organizational risks, and people-focused planning.
  • Serve as Homebase’s internal HR leader and manage partnership, roles, and coordination with the external HR provider.
  • Lead equitable recruitment processes, including job postings, interviews, reference checks, offers, compensation documentation, and onboarding.
  • Oversee the employee lifecycle and improve employee experience from recruitment and onboarding through offboarding.
  • Administer and evolve performance management, coach managers, and support performance improvement and employee development processes.
  • Manage employee relations concerns, workplace investigations, and legally sound resolution of sensitive employment matters.
  • Maintain HR policies, the employee handbook, personnel documentation, confidential records, compliance, and risk-management practices.
  • Administer compensation changes, benefits enrollment, payroll-related actions, and employee communications in partnership with finance and external providers.
  • Lead employee engagement, recognition, affinity group partnership, and initiatives that strengthen connection and belonging across the remote workforce.
  • Develop managers and leaders through coaching, capacity-building, and organizational development programs grounded in Homebase’s values and inclusion priorities.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience across multiple HR functions.
  • Experience as an HR business partner or internal HR leader in an organization of comparable size and complexity.
  • Knowledge of recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, employment policies, and HR compliance.
  • Experience managing sensitive employee relations matters and workplace investigations with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Experience coaching managers on performance, employee relations, feedback, and people management.
  • Understanding of employment law and ability to identify matters requiring escalation to external HR or legal counsel.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies, processes, and organization-wide feedback systems.
  • Commitment to inclusive, values-driven organizational practices and Homebase’s mission to address homelessness.
  • Experience supporting a primarily remote or geographically distributed workforce.
  • Strong written communication, organization, attention to detail, emotional intelligence, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Nonprofit, movement, or mission-driven HR leadership experience (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or HR certification such as SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or PHR (preferred).
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, benefits, and other HR technology platforms; organizational change, restructuring, leadership development, or culture-building initiatives (preferred).

Benefits

  • Starting compensation of $140,000–$155,000.
  • Fully remote role open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.
