Description

  • Architect, build, and ship features for an AI-powered character platform, including LLM integrations, REST APIs, and partner-facing tooling.
  • Establish engineering foundations such as CI/CD pipelines, code review standards, observability practices, on-call runbooks, and deployment processes.
  • Integrate with LLM providers, voice services, and real-time delivery infrastructure to support live character interactions.
  • Recruit, onboard, and build a growing engineering team organized around dedicated product areas.
  • Partner with the Principal AI Engineer and product leadership to shape technical strategy and build-versus-partner decisions.
  • Represent engineering direction across product, creative, and business stakeholders.
  • Measure outcomes, identify gaps, and improve delivery practices and team structure over time.
  • Work hands-on in the platform early on, including contributing code and maintaining continuity as the system evolves.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience shipping production web applications.
  • 1-2+ years of experience in a tech lead or engineering management role.
  • Production experience with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, and ECS.
  • Proficiency in Node.js and/or Python.
  • Direct production experience integrating LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, or similar.
  • Experience building and operating REST APIs used by external teams or partners, including versioning, access control, and reliability concerns.
  • Experience improving CI/CD pipelines, deployment practices, and observability tooling such as Datadog or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills for working with product, business, and creative stakeholders.
  • Comfort leading in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
  • Experience managing and mentoring engineers through growth or transition.
  • Experience with real-time communication systems such as WebRTC or WebSockets, preferred.
  • Familiarity with voice AI services, including text-to-speech and/or speech-to-text, preferred.
  • Exposure to prompt engineering, RAG architectures, or LLM evaluation frameworks, preferred.
  • Background in entertainment, gaming, consumer products, or IP-driven development, preferred.
