Description

  • Define and enforce engineering ownership boundaries across Buyer, Seller, and Platform domains.
  • Track and report throughput and instability by domain to make standards visible and actionable.
  • Maintain delivery continuity through transformation-related disruptions such as onboarding, domain moves, and headcount changes.
  • Partner with the Transformation Lead to ensure structural change does not compromise live delivery.
  • Own engineering standards across the current platform and target architecture, including coexistence during migration.
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering teams, including DevOps and platform functions, and support Tech Leads.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and blameless incident review.
  • Own resource planning, including capacity, skills mix, on-call structure, hiring, development, and succession planning.
  • Establish operational resilience practices, including a two-tier resolver model and adequate rota depth.
  • Embed secure coding practices, SAST/DAST scanning, and OWASP-aligned standards into delivery.
  • Identify, track, and manage technical debt, escalating strategic trade-offs when needed.
  • Translate roadmap items into scoped engineering execution and make day-to-day technical design and implementation decisions.

Requirements

  • Strong full-stack engineering background with Laravel/PHP, including experience across monolith and microservices patterns.
  • People leadership experience, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Direct experience leading engineering transformation while keeping a live, revenue-generating platform running.
  • Strong API design and system architecture experience.
  • Production experience with MySQL, Couchbase or MongoDB, and Redis.
  • Experience deploying and operating live services at scale on GCP.
  • Experience balancing legacy support against investment in a target architecture.
  • Startup or scale-up experience, with comfort operating in ambiguity and with limited resources.
  • Experience with MACH or composable architecture migration on a live trading platform is desirable.
  • Multi-cloud or cloud-agnostic experience is desirable, with an informed view on GCP versus alternatives.
  • Experience working beyond PHP in future-stack technologies such as Node.js, Go, or Python is desirable.
