Description

  • Refine the automotive vision and strategy with Product Management.
  • Define and execute the engineering roadmap for the automotive team.
  • Represent Canonical and Ubuntu in the automotive community, with customers, partners, and standards consortia.
  • Lead the Linux distribution and open source software strategy for automotive use cases.
  • Build, guide, and oversee a globally distributed team of engineers.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop engineers through hands-on technical leadership and feedback.
  • Set expectations and coordinate work with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Advocate for modern agile software development practices and improved engineering processes.
  • Grow a collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
  • Support work from home and participate in international company events twice a year.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering background with deep experience in Linux and open source.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux packages and embedded development.
  • Knowledge of automotive and industry standards such as ISO 21434, ISO 26262, SOTIF, and IEC 61508.
  • Ideally experience leading product development initiatives that achieved compliance with relevant safety or security standards.
  • Experience programming in C/C++ and Python.
  • Practical experience in automotive, including functional safety, embedded systems, cloud, and related software trends.
  • Experience leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers.
  • Track record of timely delivery and high-quality software.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Experience developing and growing people is strongly preferred.
