Description

  • Serve as a trusted CTO-level technical advisor to federal agency CIOs, CISOs, CTOs, program managers, and mission owners.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each customer’s environment, legacy systems, security posture, compliance obligations, mission priorities, and modernization roadmap.
  • Provide strategic technology roadmap guidance that aligns security investments with federal mandates and mission needs.
  • Lead executive technology briefings, architecture workshops, and solution strategy sessions.
  • Engage in the most technically complex customer challenges, including legacy modernization, zero trust implementation, cloud migration security, and multi-domain architecture conflicts.
  • Facilitate structured problem-solving sessions to resolve technology decisions, vendor trade-offs, architecture conflicts, and stalled implementation questions.
  • Develop solution concepts, including technology selection rationale, integration architecture, phased implementation approaches, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate GuidePoint Technical Directors across cybersecurity domains to bring the right expertise into customer problem-solving.
  • Partner with Account Executives to identify, shape, and close larger federal opportunities.
  • Provide senior technical presales support for major federal pursuits, including proposals, oral presentations, and technical demonstrations.
  • Contribute customer and market intelligence to internal leadership to inform federal growth strategy, service development, and vendor portfolio priorities.
  • Mentor senior engineers and Solution Architects on customer advisory skills and executive engagement techniques.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in federal cybersecurity, federal IT strategy, or federal technology advisory roles.
  • Experience operating at a senior technical advisory level with federal agency leadership.
  • Direct experience as a CTO, Chief Architect, Principal Technologist, or equivalent customer-facing technical advisor in a federal agency, federal government, or federal professional services firm.
  • Proven experience identifying complex technology challenges and designing integrated, multi-vendor solutions.
  • Demonstrated track record of contributing to federal business development and supporting AE-led commercial growth.
  • Deep familiarity with the federal cybersecurity and IT vendor landscape across Zero Trust, cloud security, identity and access management, endpoint security, SIEM/SOAR, and GRC.
  • Broad cybersecurity architecture competency across at least four major domains.
  • Current knowledge of federal cybersecurity and compliance requirements, including FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, DoD RMF, OMB memoranda, Zero Trust mandates, and relevant Executive Orders.
  • Exceptional executive presence and the ability to engage senior federal leaders as a peer advisor.
  • Self-directed with the ability to manage senior customer relationships, internal coordination, and presales support simultaneously.
  • CISSP required.
  • CCSP, cloud security certifications such as AWS Security or AZ-500, and relevant vendor certifications preferred.
  • DoD 8570/8140 IAM Level II or higher baseline certification preferred.
  • Active Secret clearance required at time of hire.
  • TS/SCI preferred, with willingness to pursue a clearance upgrade required.
