Description

  • Monitor employment law and regulatory changes across countries where GitLab employs team members and maintain a regulatory change log.
  • Lead People compliance programs across the People Division, including tracking, execution, and audit-ready documentation for key jurisdictions.
  • Translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical system and process requirements and use metrics to assess control effectiveness.
  • Advise People Operations leaders, the Global Employment Manager, and People Business Partners on compliance implications for lifecycle actions.
  • Own People-related compliance audits and responses, including EEO-1, OFCCP and Affirmative Action, SOX people controls, and internal and external audits.
  • Partner with People Technology and Analytics to extract, report, and organize audit data and compliance records.
  • Own People data privacy and retention practices, including GDPR, data processing agreements, cross-border transfer mechanisms, privacy impact assessments, data subject access requests, and retention schedules.
  • Document compliance workflows and procedures and coach the People Compliance Analyst through repeatable work and reviews.

Requirements

  • Experience owning and improving global employment compliance programs across multiple countries and regions.
  • Working knowledge of employment regulations and the ability to apply requirements to People policies, processes, and decisions.
  • Experience managing People-related compliance audits, including timelines, data collection, submissions, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Working knowledge of data privacy for People data, including GDPR requirements, data retention practices, and incident response partnering.
  • Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into clear system or process requirements and use metrics to monitor control effectiveness.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Legal, People Business Partners, Total Rewards, and People Technology and Analytics.
  • Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing habits, including repeatable workflows, logs, and knowledge base articles.
  • Ability to operate independently in a remote, asynchronous environment and guide a junior analyst through structured work and review.
