Description

  • Own end-to-end global indirect tax compliance, including nexus analysis, return preparation, filing, payment, and threshold monitoring.
  • Assess SaaS taxability rules and maintain current taxability guidance across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Oversee exemption certificate processes and tax engine configuration within Avalara.
  • Perform monthly accruals and quarterly reconciliations for indirect tax accounts and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Billing, Legal, and Accounting on tax matters tied to customer structures, product launches, and new business activities.
  • Drive process improvements focused on automation, scalable controls, and AI-enabled compliance workflows.
  • Support audit and SOX readiness through accurate reporting, reconciliations, and control documentation.
  • Help strengthen filing and reconciliation processes and improve system accuracy across tools such as NetSuite and Zuora.

Requirements

  • Experience managing indirect tax compliance for the US, Canada, and international jurisdictions, including EMEA and APAC.
  • Direct experience with nexus analysis, return filing, exemption certificate management, and voluntary disclosure agreement support.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a lean team while managing multiple compliance cycles, deadlines, and parallel projects.
  • Working knowledge of finance and tax systems such as Avalara, NetSuite, Zuora, spreadsheets, and collaboration tools.
  • Experience with reconciliation, documentation, and control-oriented work, including support for SOX processes.
  • Strong organization, analytical ability, and clear communication with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Relevant education or transferable experience in tax, accounting, or finance.
  • Professional certifications or advanced tax education are helpful but not required.
  • Experience with distributed teams and asynchronous collaboration is beneficial.
