Description

Diagnose business problems by mapping workflows, identifying constraints, and validating whether AI is the right solution.
Own AI initiatives end to end from stakeholder discovery and technical design through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
Design, develop, and ship AI-powered solutions and prototypes quickly with measurable business value.
Improve organizational flow by reducing bottlenecks, shortening lead times, and increasing throughput.
Integrate AI capabilities into existing systems and workflows using APIs, orchestration tools, and modern AI platforms.
Use GitLab’s AI offerings where appropriate and feed real-world usage insights back to R&D.
Partner with stakeholders across functions to understand constraints and align on outcomes before building.
Define and track success using business metrics, flow metrics, adoption, ROI, and feedback loops.
Evaluate tools, document patterns, and create reusable foundations to help the team scale impact.

Requirements

Experience building production-quality solutions independently and writing clean, maintainable code.
Strong proficiency in at least one modern scripting language such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
Solid understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, and integration patterns.
Deep practical experience with modern AI technologies, including prompt engineering, context management, multi-turn interactions, and output evaluation.
Experience making model selection and architecture trade-offs, such as fine-tuning vs. general-purpose models and RAG vs. larger context windows.
Practical fluency with agentic patterns such as tool use, multi-agent orchestration, human-in-the-loop designs, guardrails, and evaluation frameworks.
Experience with AI safety and risk controls such as input validation, output filtering, access controls, prompt injection defenses, and data leakage prevention.
Ability to think in systems, map end-to-end workflows, identify bottlenecks, and trace root causes.
Familiarity with enterprise business systems such as Salesforce, Marketo, Zendesk, Workato, Relevance AI, and Glean, plus strong understanding of enterprise data models and workflows.
Experience owning complex initiatives from discovery through delivery and operating effectively with ambiguity.
Ability to scope MVPs, prioritize ruthlessly, and deliver iteratively with attention to adoption, user experience, and business outcomes.
Preferred: experience with GitLab platform and CI/CD workflows.
Preferred: background in consulting, solutions engineering, or customer-facing technical roles.
Preferred: familiarity with value stream mapping, flow metrics, or Theory of Constraints.
Preferred: experience with low-code/no-code orchestration tools such as n8n, Make, or Workato alongside custom development.
Preferred: previous startup or high-growth company experience.
Preferred: experience mentoring or leading technical projects with junior engineers.
