Description

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and performant systems for end-to-end AI feature development.
  • Collaborate with product, research, and infrastructure engineers across AI initiatives.
  • Help shape platform strategy, roadmaps, and engineering best practices across the organization.
  • Debug and resolve complex production issues across services and stack layers.
  • Mentor engineers and foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and technical excellence.
  • Develop infrastructure for training, evaluating, deploying, and serving AI models.
  • Build frameworks and systems that power agentic AI features throughout Figma’s products.
  • Create context-gathering and search/recommendation systems that improve AI quality.
  • Develop plugin, widget, REST API, and MCP/server platforms that enable Figma integrations.
  • Work with developers across the company to improve technical quality, performance, and reliability of AI systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, especially in backend or infrastructure engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: AI, search infrastructure, or developer platforms.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript, Python, or Ruby.
  • Strong system design skills and experience architecting resilient production systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience collaborating across teams and mentoring others.
  • Experience building AI infrastructure at scale, including model training or serving platforms, is preferred.
  • Experience evolving large-scale shared developer platforms to improve reliability and developer velocity is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead technical strategy and complex, multi-team projects is preferred.
  • Background in platform engineering or machine learning is preferred.

  • Annual base salary range of $153,000 to $376,000 USD, depending on location and qualifications.
