Description

  • Lead the design and implementation of complex software systems and carrier integrations with minimal oversight.
  • Drive technical decision-making and contribute to architecture discussions across multiple services and systems.
  • Break down ambiguous problems into clear technical solutions and execution plans.
  • Design, code, test, and debug software applications following coding standards and best practices.
  • Develop scalable, maintainable, secure backend services with strong performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, stakeholders, and engineers to translate business needs into technical designs.
  • Lead technical design efforts and produce high-quality documentation.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance tests.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through reviews, pairing, and day-to-day collaboration.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, diagnose production issues, and lead root cause analysis efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Expert-level Python development experience in production environments.
  • Strong experience designing and building REST APIs and distributed systems.
  • Strong experience with relational databases and SQL.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex technical initiatives from design through production deployment.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing other engineers.
  • Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and observable backend services.
  • Experience writing automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design principles, and software architecture patterns.
  • Experience with carrier, logistics, shipping, payments, fintech, or other API-intensive domains preferred.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and alerting tools preferred.
  • Experience working within service-oriented or microservice architectures preferred.
  • Experience working with high-volume, highly available production systems preferred.
  • Must be authorized and based in the United States.
