Description

Lead the design and implementation of complex software systems and carrier integrations with minimal oversight.
Drive technical decision-making and contribute to architecture discussions across multiple services and systems.
Break down ambiguous problems into clear technical solutions and execution plans.
Design, code, test, and debug software applications following coding standards and best practices.
Develop scalable, maintainable, secure backend services with strong performance and reliability.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, stakeholders, and engineers to translate business needs into technical designs.
Lead technical design efforts and produce high-quality documentation.
Develop and execute unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance tests.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through reviews, pairing, and day-to-day collaboration.
Participate in on-call rotations, diagnose production issues, and lead root cause analysis efforts.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Expert-level Python development experience in production environments.
Strong experience designing and building REST APIs and distributed systems.
Strong experience with relational databases and SQL.
Demonstrated experience leading complex technical initiatives from design through production deployment.
Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing other engineers.
Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and observable backend services.
Experience writing automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design principles, and software architecture patterns.
Experience with carrier, logistics, shipping, payments, fintech, or other API-intensive domains preferred.
Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, preferred.
Experience with monitoring, observability, and alerting tools preferred.
Experience working within service-oriented or microservice architectures preferred.
Experience working with high-volume, highly available production systems preferred.
Must be authorized and based in the United States.

Competitive compensation of $156,000 to $205,000 per year.
