Description

  • Manage and grow a team of Cloud Operations Engineers through hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
  • Own team operational outcomes including fleet reliability SLOs, error budgets, incident response quality, and customer environment lifecycle health.
  • Balance workload and the on-call rotation fairly across the team while protecting against burnout.
  • Set and communicate priorities across customer work, planned fleet initiatives, and technical debt reduction.
  • Act as an escalation point and executive sponsor for major incidents affecting the customer cloud fleet.
  • Partner with technical leadership and architects on cloud technical direction and standards.
  • Own the team’s contribution to audit and compliance programs such as FedRAMP and SOC2.
  • Manage cloud cost accountability and partner with Finance on budget and optimization.
  • Ensure effective use of observability and connectivity tooling such as Datadog and Tailscale.
  • Represent Cloud Operations in cross-team planning and maintain healthy team culture through blameless post-incident reviews.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing engineering or cloud operations teams, including Senior and Staff-level engineers.
  • Cybersecurity experience.
  • Strong technical background in cloud operations across Azure, AWS, and/or GCP.
  • Hands-on IaC/Terraform experience is a plus, but not required day-to-day.
  • Experience running or overseeing an on-call rotation such as PagerDuty or equivalent.
  • Track record in hiring, developing, and retaining senior technical talent.
  • Experience partnering with Security/Compliance teams on audit programs such as FedRAMP, SOC2, or similar.
  • Strong budget and cost accountability experience; cloud cost or FinOps exposure is a plus.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and work-intake discipline.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to report to engineering leadership and peer managers.
  • Preferred: prior experience as a Senior or Staff-level IC in cloud operations or SRE before management.
  • Preferred: experience managing teams supporting external, regulated customers.
  • Preferred: familiarity with multi-tenant cloud architecture and compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, SOC2, and NIST CSF.
  • Preferred: experience managing distributed or remote engineering teams.
  • All new hires must pass a background check.
