Description

  • Develop and execute annual and multi-year fundraising plans across 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), Federal PAC, and political fundraising channels.
  • Collaborate with the President and senior leadership to align fundraising strategy with organizational priorities and growth targets.
  • Build, steward, and expand relationships with major donors, foundations, political stakeholders, and institutional partners.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a three-person development team, setting goals and supporting professional growth.
  • Establish strong systems, workflows, and CRM practices to improve efficiency and donor tracking.
  • Lead donor stewardship efforts, including communications, impact reports, grant reports, acknowledgments, and updates.
  • Plan and oversee fundraising events such as donor cultivation events, galas, and candidate fundraisers.
  • Partner with finance and operations on cash flow management, donor reporting, and compliance with grant and donor restrictions.
  • Collaborate with communications to ensure consistent messaging across fundraising materials.
  • Engage the Board of Directors in fundraising, including cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and reporting.
  • Represent the organization at conferences, donor convenings, and public forums to expand its network.

Requirements

  • 5 to 9 years of progressive experience in nonprofit development with a record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Experience managing fundraising across multiple entity types, including C3, C4, and/or PAC contexts, strongly preferred.
  • Proven success in individual major gifts, foundation relations, and/or political fundraising.
  • Experience managing and developing development staff in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
  • Background in education, political, or advocacy-focused nonprofit environments strongly preferred.
  • Ability to develop and implement long-term fundraising strategies while balancing immediate organizational needs.
  • Experience cultivating and managing relationships with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, political stakeholders, and institutional partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold a development team accountable for shared revenue goals.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including crafting donor-facing materials and persuasive asks.
  • Strong skills in pipeline management, fundraising analytics, and CRM utilization.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion with sensitive information.
  • Passion for educational equity and commitment to advancing opportunities for underserved students.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed.
  • Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
