Description

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for a cohort of higher education institutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with institutional leaders, including IR Directors, Chief Data Officers, Provosts, and Presidents.
  • Conduct regular check-ins and relationship health reviews to identify and address concerns early.
  • Coordinate onboarding with implementation and product teams and advocate for partner needs throughout the process.
  • Translate partner feedback into clear briefs and action items for internal teams.
  • Facilitate Learning Circles and other cohort activities to support peer learning and shared problem-solving.
  • Synthesize feedback across accounts and communicate institutional needs and usability issues to Product and Engineering.
  • Contribute to scalable account management processes and playbooks as the organization grows.
  • Own the renewal process for partnerships, track engagement signals, and proactively address retention risks.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to document outcomes and support renewal conversations.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in account management, partnership management, customer success, or higher education administration.
  • Deep alignment with DataKind's mission and commitment to educational equity and data-driven social impact.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder relationships in higher education or a similarly mission-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of higher education institutions, including decision-makers, institutional priorities, and challenges related to student success and data use.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of an organization.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally and translating between institutional partners and technical teams without owning technical work.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple concurrent partnerships or accounts.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to institutional partners, up to 25-40% during peak periods.
  • Experience in customer success or account management within edtech or SaaS-based, mission-driven organizations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with higher education data systems such as SIS, LMS, and CRM at a conceptual level is preferred.
  • Knowledge of enrollment management, student success, and completion initiatives is preferred.
  • Background in institutional research, academic affairs, or educational technology sales is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data governance, FERPA, and institutional compliance at a high level is preferred.
  • Applicants must have a U.S.-based permanent address and be authorized to work in the United States full-time indefinitely without employer visa sponsorship.

  • Full-time salary range of $75,000-$94,000 annually, plus benefits.
  • Independent contractor rate of $45-$56 per hour.
