Description

  • Lead a team of engineers building core application platform infrastructure used by every service at Databricks.
  • Own and drive the technical roadmap for one or more platform pillars.
  • Drive multi-quarter execution on high-impact platform initiatives.
  • Hire and grow strong engineering talent, including senior engineers and future leaders.
  • Provide clear feedback and career development support to engineers on the team.
  • Establish and maintain high technical standards, processes, and a culture of engineering excellence.
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to define long-term priorities and coordinate cross-team execution.
  • Unblock cross-cutting projects by aligning work across teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems, service frameworks, or platform infrastructure.
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience leading strong technical teams.
  • Experience ensuring high-quality, reliable infrastructure, including ownership of testing, quality, and service level agreements.
  • Strong track record of attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent.
  • Experience coaching engineers, upleveling teams, and developing engineering leaders.
  • Experience building and running cloud platforms, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new concepts in the SaaS space.
  • Ability to hire to Databricks' standards and support both high performers and struggling team members.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for new U.S. employees, unless a reasonable accommodation applies.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $190,000 to $261,250 USD for Zone 1.
  • Eligibility for annual performance bonus.
  • Equity may be included in the total compensation package.
