Description

  • Manage, hire, and develop a team of engineers working on Metrics products.
  • Provide regular feedback and support each engineer’s growth through career conversations.
  • Act as project manager and work with product owners to keep the roadmap defined and up to date.
  • Remove blockers and impediments to help the team operate productively.
  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration and improve working practices.
  • Engage in technical conversations and help teams reach strong technical decisions.
  • Support autonomous engineering teams while aligning technical and product direction.
  • Interact with customers when needed, especially large companies using Mimir.
  • Stay current on technical trends to understand and address team challenges.
  • Help grow and develop the Databases Metrics teams.

Requirements

  • Experience as an engineering or people manager, with the ability to coach senior engineers.
  • Strong technical background with enough depth to manage a highly technical team and product.
  • Experience supporting engineers, leading initiatives or small teams, and driving projects to successful outcomes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment across time zones and cultures.
  • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on clear, empathetic communication and trust-building.
  • Ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and improve team performance.
  • Customer-focused mindset, grounding decisions in user needs and real-world impact.
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience from having worked as an engineer before moving into management.
  • Conceptual familiarity with Kubernetes and Helm; knowledge of distributed systems is appreciated.
  • Comfort with AI-assisted tooling and practical experience using AI-powered tools in team workflows.
