Description

  • Lead the architectural evolution of the Coupa Supplier Platform as traffic, features, and reliability demands grow.
  • Define and prioritize changes to the platform architecture and explain the rationale behind those decisions.
  • Set engineering patterns for API design, microservice boundaries, deployment pipelines, monitoring, and reliability.
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, architecture reviews, and code reviews.
  • Participate in the Architectural Steering Group and share learnings across Principal Engineers at Coupa.
  • Partner with SRE on cloud-native infrastructure, including CI/CD, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and multi-cloud capabilities.
  • Own security, multi-tenancy isolation, data governance, and compliance across all regions.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and business teams to scale supplier workflows into robust systems.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience building B2B SaaS at scale in leadership and architectural roles.
  • Proven experience evolving legacy systems into microservices in production environments.
  • Deep knowledge of API-driven services, multi-tenant architectures, and B2B integration patterns supporting millions of users.
  • Strong experience with modern deployment practices, including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud providers such as AWS or GCP.
  • Comfort working across Ruby on Rails, Golang, and Java, with judgment to choose the right tools for the problem.
  • Track record of mentoring engineering teams and providing direction without micromanaging.
  • Strong problem-solving ability balancing scale, performance, technical debt, and feature delivery.
  • Effective communication skills across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
