Description

  • Own major Android features end to end, from product decisions through release, in collaboration with Design.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and provide actionable technical feedback.
  • Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features and critical issues.
  • Unblock engineers, consolidate duplicate solutions, and maintain shared, tested components.
  • Improve release processes by reducing manual intervention and expanding automated verification.
  • Lead planning, review standards, process improvements, and cross-functional discussions.
  • Own feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and create opportunities for them to learn.
  • Identify recurring problems and improve systems to prevent them from happening again.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product area while remaining hands-on.
  • Expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
  • Strong understanding of software testing, including test coverage limitations and appropriate testing strategies.
  • Experience introducing engineering practices or systems that teams continued using independently.
  • Ability to influence changes to team processes and manage the friction involved.
  • Ability to determine appropriate review depth based on system risk and impact.
  • Track record of building reusable solutions adopted by the broader team.
  • Ability to explain how a team uses AI agents in its development workflow.
  • Product design intuition, user empathy, strong communication, and motivation to improve Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
  • Experience with Room, Custom Views, Canvas, Paint, or Jetpack Compose.
  • Open-source Android experience or familiarity with iOS, Web, or Node.js preferred.
