Description

  • Own major Android features end to end, from product decisions through release, in collaboration with Design.
  • Write, review, and maintain production code while providing constructive technical feedback.
  • Own reliability metrics and improve feature stability.
  • Unblock engineers, consolidate duplicate solutions, and maintain shared components.
  • Improve release processes by reducing manual intervention and expanding automated verification.
  • Lead planning, review strategies, process improvements, and cross-functional discussions.
  • Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and ensure they receive meaningful learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product area while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, music player services, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background functionality.
  • Understanding of effective testing strategies and test limitations.
  • Demonstrated ability to introduce engineering practices that persist across a team.
  • Experience building reusable systems adopted by the broader engineering team.
  • Ability to evaluate review requirements based on system risk and behavior.
  • Experience working with AI agents at the team level.
  • Product design intuition, user empathy, strong communication, and initiative to improve Android UI/UX and the codebase.
  • Open-source Android experience or familiarity with iOS, web, or Node.js is preferred.
