Description

  • Administer, audit, reconcile, and correct CalSTRS, CalPERS, and other public retirement contributions and reports.
  • Maintain retirement documentation and ensure compliance with STRS and PERS regulations.
  • Serve as the primary client liaison with County Offices of Education, CalSTRS, and CalPERS.
  • Research retirement membership classifications, resolve reporting discrepancies, and respond to escalated issues.
  • Upload F496 files, correct Macro text file errors, and submit required reports.
  • Monitor and manage CalSTRS and CROWE audits, including timely responses.
  • Manage benefits open enrollment, including rate updates, enrollments, terminations, and plan changes.
  • Assist employees and clients with benefits eligibility, enrollment, coverage, billing, and compliance questions.
  • Coordinate with Payroll, Accounting, HR, and insurance carriers to ensure accurate deductions and enrollment records.
  • Generate benefits and retirement reports, guide Payroll Specialists, and train internal staff on related procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, human resources, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in retirement plan administration, benefits administration, or payroll processing.
  • Strong knowledge of CalSTRS, CalPERS, and 403(b) retirement plans.
  • Experience administering employee benefits, open enrollment, and compliance processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to analyze payroll data, resolve non-routine problems, and interpret state and federal regulations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Paycor, ADP, UKG, Paylocity, Frontline, or Paychex preferred.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or Abila Non-Profit Accounting preferred.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit and charter school payroll compliance preferred.
