Description

  • Review the existing F5 environment, including QKView analysis, and identify migration risks.
  • Produce the migration plan, runbook with rollback steps, and testing plan for stakeholder sign-off.
  • Prepare UCS files, establish management access, activate cloud licensing, upgrade F5OS, create tenants, and provision BIG-IP modules.
  • Import and adapt the base configuration offline to avoid production impact.
  • Configure HA failover, SYSLOG/SNMP monitoring, and remote authentication services.
  • Execute cold testing, cold commissioning, and hot failover testing on each HA pair.
  • Migrate LTM, ASM, and APM configurations on a like-for-like basis.
  • Integrate the new DNS BIG-IPs into the existing sync-group and validate connectivity, pool member availability, application monitoring, and licensing.
  • Lead two out-of-hours cutover windows, including failover, verification, and post-cutover testing.
  • Deliver next-business-day post-cutover support, knowledge transfer, and updated as-built documentation.

Requirements

  • Proven F5 BIG-IP migration experience, ideally from iSeries to rSeries or similar hardware refresh projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of F5OS, including tenant creation, licensing, and platform management.
  • Hands-on experience with LTM, DNS/GTM, APM, and ASM.
  • Experience migrating vCMP guest configurations to F5OS tenants.
  • Solid understanding of HA failover configuration and testing.
  • Ability to produce professional migration runbooks, rollback plans, and test documentation.
  • Comfortable managing out-of-hours cutover windows independently.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, and routing.
  • F5 certifications such as F5-CA, F5-CTS, or F5 Certified Administrator are desirable.
  • Experience with F5 cloud-based licensing is desirable.
  • Familiarity with QKView analysis and iHealth diagnostics is desirable.
  • Scripting and automation experience with iRules, iControl, tmsh, Ansible, or similar is desirable.
