Description

  • Support and maintain multiple UK-wide customer networks from the Network Operations Centre, including 24/7 cover when required.
  • Work with delivery teams to transition sites and services into live operations, ensuring verification, testing, commissioning, documentation, and training are completed.
  • Configure and commission wired and wireless networking equipment according to configuration templates.
  • Integrate multi-vendor network devices with monitoring systems.
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation and knowledge base materials.
  • Plan and support firmware and patch management, taking ownership and accountability for the related systems.
  • Support active network kit and deploy new kit with accurate configuration management, recording, and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to deliver operational targets and support business objectives.
  • Identify and assess customer needs to improve satisfaction and build sustainable relationships.
  • Troubleshoot faults across public and private cloud services, enterprise wired and wireless infrastructure, and end-user environments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a network operations centre within the ISP or telecoms industry.
  • Experience with incident, problem, and change management processes, including prioritisation.
  • Strong knowledge of monitoring systems, network management platforms, and monitoring best practices.
  • Excellent understanding of networking concepts, including physical, switching, routing, transport layers, and firewalls.
  • In-depth understanding of RADIUS protocol and Wi-Fi standards/wireless principles.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple fault types at the same time.
  • Good working knowledge of high availability protocols and design on Layer 2 and Layer 3.
  • Knowledge of Linux system administration, preferably Ubuntu or CentOS.
  • Practical capability with SNMP, VPN, and tunnelling technologies.
  • CCNA or equivalent experience; VMWare/Proxmox experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including covering extended working hours where required.
  • Desire to learn new technologies, develop advanced networking skills, and share knowledge across the team.
  • Strong interest in the ISP industry and working in a close-knit team.
  • Programming and scripting ability, preferably Python and PHP.
  • Strong technical knowledge of wireless technologies.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure design and deep protocol-level networking.
  • Experience with MPLS, VRF-lite, MP-BGP, OSPF, IPSec, PPTP, GRE, DM-VPN, L2TP, 802.1q, Q-in-Q, QoS, NAT, DHCP, ACLs, PBR, route mapping/leaking, EEM, VLANs, STP, VRRP, and HSRP.
  • Experience with 802.11 wireless LANs, firewall support and configuration, and connectivity technologies such as xDSL, FTTC, EFM, fibre, and mobile networks.
  • CCNP or other networking certifications preferred.
  • SC clearance preferred.
  • Basic DBS check required for the successful applicant.
