Description

  • Lead a small team of 2-4 data engineers and support their growth.
  • Run agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Own the team’s quarterly OKRs and delivery commitments.
  • Design, build, and review high-quality dbt models and data pipelines on BigQuery.
  • Ensure data is reliable, performant, and ready for action.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Data Engineering and the broader Data & Analytics team.
  • Remain technically hands-on while managing team execution.
  • Help bring clarity and structure in an ambiguous, fast-changing scale-up environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering.
  • Initial leadership experience such as tech leading, mentoring, or guiding small groups.
  • Production-level experience designing and reviewing dbt models and pipelines on Google Cloud BigQuery.
  • Expert-level SQL skills.
  • Strong Python scripting skills for pipeline orchestration using tools such as Airflow or Cloud Composer.
  • Practical experience running agile ways of working and owning delivery commitments.
  • Professional English language skills at B2 level or higher.
  • Basic familiarity with Terraform to manage cloud-based data assets (preferred).
  • Familiarity with PySpark and open table formats like Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake (preferred).
  • Experience using tools like Cursor or Claude in daily engineering work (preferred).
