Description

  • Design and build end-to-end features across PostgreSQL schemas, Hibernate/JPA entities, Spring Boot REST APIs, and Angular/React web applications.
  • Tune complex queries and optimize performance across a large, normalized pharmaceutical data model.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle from ideation and design through deployment and monitoring in Datadog.
  • Review code and provide constructive feedback to improve quality and maintainability.
  • Contribute to architecture and roadmap discussions for CostCheck and ShortageCheck, aligning overlapping initiatives across products.
  • Provide technical mentorship and pairing support to teammates.
  • Help maintain and modernize shared libraries, customer-facing web applications, and internal admin tooling.
  • Advance AI-assisted development workflows by improving prompts, skills, subagents, and team workflows.
  • Stay current with industry trends and incorporate emerging technologies where appropriate.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer working across the stack.
  • Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot, including REST API design, dependency injection, and testing.
  • Strong Hibernate/JPA experience, including entity mapping, relationship modeling, fetching strategies, and avoiding common pitfalls like N+1 and lazy-loading issues.
  • Strong PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, indexing, query tuning, and safe migration practices on large production datasets.
  • Comfort with modern front-end frameworks and integrating UIs with RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with software engineering best practices, including unit and integration testing.
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot, with judgment on where they are and are not useful.
  • Progressive experience analyzing complex problems, developing solutions, and building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and functions.
  • Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry, focused on compliant and secure solutions (preferred).
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as ECS Fargate, RDS, and S3, plus Terraform and Datadog APM (preferred).
  • Experience building or extending Claude Code skills, subagents, hooks, or MCP integrations (preferred).
  • Experience with AWS Bedrock or SageMaker for AI prototyping (preferred).
  • Experience working in a multi-repo or multi-service codebase with a shared core library (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Python, with FastAPI experience a plus (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
