Description

  • Collaborate with systems design, quest design, art, engineering, and production to implement the creative vision.
  • Design and build levels end-to-end, including layout, encounters, traversal, pacing, and player flow.
  • Create combat spaces, points of interest, and environmental storytelling that support gameplay and narrative goals.
  • Work with narrative designers to integrate objectives and story elements into physical spaces.
  • Script and set up gameplay events, encounters, triggers, and environmental interactions in-engine.
  • Test, debug, and iterate on levels to resolve navigation issues, balance problems, blockers, and edge cases.
  • Respond to feedback by refining layouts, encounters, and pacing to improve clarity and flow.
  • Maintain awareness of core gameplay systems and adjust level design for multiple playstyles and systemic interactions.
  • Communicate risks, dependencies, and implementation issues during development to the appropriate team members.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience contributing to game development with a strong focus on level design in complex game systems.
  • Experience shipping at least one title, ideally in the RPG or open-world space.
  • Understanding of the full content lifecycle from implementation through polish.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned content, manage tasks, and solve implementation problems in a dynamic production environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with designers, artists, engineers, and audio partners.
  • Familiarity with level editing tools, scripting, and logic-driven systems.
  • Confidence building, debugging, and maintaining gameplay spaces directly in-engine.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada and able to reside within Canada.
  • Preferred interest in hands-on level implementation, environmental storytelling, and gameplay space refinement.
  • Preferred passion for science fiction worlds, systems-driven RPGs, cinematic presentation, and player-driven exploration.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 per year.
