Description

  • Work directly with external partners and customers to understand data needs, analytical workflows, and technical constraints.
  • Translate partner requirements into concrete solutions and application features built on Beacon’s Datastore.
  • Lead technical conversations with partner engineers and data teams to support API integrations and data access practices.
  • Design, build, and ship solutions on Beacon’s platform or customer environments to accelerate integration and validate Beacon’s data.
  • Collaborate with Datastore engineers, product managers, and scientific teams to develop internal tools, services, queries, and integration tooling.
  • Improve observability, troubleshooting, documentation, APIs, data models, and operational processes based on partner feedback.
  • Debug production data issues end to end, from customer reports through logs, pipelines, and databases to root cause and fix.
  • Write production application and integration code against Beacon’s PostgreSQL-backed GraphQL API.
  • Write SQL by hand and contribute to feature design and engineering assessments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering, data engineering, or data platform engineering, including hands-on application development.
  • 3+ years in a customer-facing technical role delivering solutions directly to external partners or clients.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL with production PostgreSQL experience, including query tuning, schema design, indexes, and query plans.
  • Hands-on experience designing and maintaining operational data models.
  • Experience working directly with customers or external stakeholders on requirements gathering, solution design, and delivery.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Julia; Julia experience is a strong plus, but not required.
  • Experience building and consuming APIs, especially GraphQL, plus familiarity with integration patterns such as REST, batch exports, ELT/ETL, and event sourcing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A collaborative, customer-oriented mindset and comfort working across teams to solve real problems.
  • Preferred experience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated data environments, and with Snowflake or Superset.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $150,000 - $170,000.
  • Equity as part of the total compensation package.
  • PTO included in the compensation package.
