Description

  • Work as a day-one contributor on enterprise transformation initiatives for clients in financial services, healthcare, and government.
  • Develop and maintain Java-based systems that support legacy communications, data collection, and reporting modernization.
  • Collaborate with business leaders, senior engineers, and machine learning engineers in cross-functional teams.
  • Build and support agentic AI workflows and Amazon Connect telephony automation solutions.
  • Maintain existing systems during transition periods to ensure performance and stability.
  • Design and implement REST APIs and cloud-native services on AWS.
  • Participate in pair programming, test-driven development, and continuous integration practices.
  • Contribute to event-driven microservices and self-service improvements for agents and customers.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and surface blockers early.
  • Mentor teammates and share knowledge within a collective code ownership environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional Java experience in production systems.
  • 4-6 years of experience for the Senior Developer roles.
  • Strong experience with Java 17 or 21 LTS, including records, sealed classes, and pattern matching.
  • Expertise with Spring Boot 3.x, Spring Security, OAuth2/OIDC, Spring Data JPA/Hibernate, and reactive programming with WebFlux/Project Reactor.
  • Proficient in REST API and OpenAPI 3.x design.
  • Expert unit and integration testing experience with JUnit 5, Mockito, and TestContainers; TDD is required.
  • Advanced experience with AWS services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, RDS Aurora, and DynamoDB.
  • Advanced Amazon Connect and contact flow experience, including Lambda handlers and Lex bots.
  • 2+ years of Agile experience; XP experience is strongly preferred.
  • 1+ year of AWS cloud-native experience with Lambda, ECS, SQS, or Aurora.
  • Demonstrable TDD evidence in GitHub or similar proof of practice.
  • Experience with event-driven microservices architecture.
  • Preferred experience with Kafka or Amazon MSK.
  • Advanced familiarity with agentic AI tooling, including LLM APIs, tool-use loops, and LangChain4j.
  • Oracle Certified Professional: Java SE 17 or 21 Developer (required).
  • AWS Certified Developer Associate (preferred).
  • Spring Professional Certification (preferred).
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate and AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty are advantageous.
  • Must be US-based and already authorized to work in the US; no H-1B sponsorship or transfers.
  • Preference for candidates located in the Chicago area.
