Description

  • Design and implement core SMTP relay harness components, including MTA infrastructure, scalability, IP management, encryption, and DMARC support.
  • Build the production relay with existing infrastructure engineers and grow into full ownership of defined services as the product matures.
  • Collaborate with product managers and Solutions Architects to translate customer needs into reliable relay configurations for inbound and outbound use cases.
  • Own and operate tier-0 mail flow services that process high volumes of enterprise email at production SLA.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and drive continuous reliability improvements for mail flow services.
  • Contribute to technical design discussions for integrating the relay with existing inline products and shaping the broader Mail Flow platform.
  • Create and maintain knowledge-sharing materials, runbooks, and engineering documentation.
  • Support engineering excellence and team development within a fast-moving 0-to-1 environment.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems, or a related engineering field.
  • 3+ years of backend software development experience with distributed systems and production services.
  • Hands-on experience with Go and/or Python.
  • Experience building features and components from scratch and owning them in production.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, 0-to-1 projects and helping shape requirements with product and engineering stakeholders.
  • Experience working with distributed teams and strong asynchronous, written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of email protocols and infrastructure, including SMTP, MTA architecture, DNS, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC (preferred).
  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Django, Spark, and Prometheus (preferred).
  • Familiarity with email security products or SEGs such as Proofpoint, Mimecast, or Microsoft Defender (preferred).
  • Experience with email deliverability concepts such as IP reputation, bulk sending infrastructure, bounce handling, or feedback loops (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Docker or similar containerization technologies (preferred).

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $149,200 to $214,500 USD.
  • Eligibility for bonus or incentive compensation.
