Description

  • Establish and monitor business fundamentals, behaviors, and performance metrics across the region.
  • Set high performance standards and meet or exceed regional sales goals.
  • Hire, lead, coach, and motivate a high-performing sales team.
  • Adapt quickly to launch-related and market-driven changes while supporting corporate and field colleagues.
  • Coach sales representatives to improve clinical, product, business acumen, and reimbursement capabilities.
  • Participate in field rides, customer meetings, target planning, territory alignment, and talent development activities.
  • Contribute to the national sales plan by analyzing economic, industry, marketing, and sales data.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of territory and regional administrative tasks, including expense reports, funding requests, and management communications.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • Minimum 12 years of life sciences sales and commercial experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct people leadership experience in rare disease or specialty biopharma preferred.
  • Broad commercial experience in areas such as Sales, Marketing, Training, or Market Access preferred.
  • Experience with product launch and selling into endocrinology, rare disease, and/or specialty sales markets required.
  • Strong understanding of regional health systems and teaching institutions required.
  • Consistent track record of success, including top 20% performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute innovative, comprehensive sales strategies.
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy distribution and patient services/hub support required.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state compliance guidelines and regulations required.
  • Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CRM systems, and field-based tools required.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the region, including overnight travel, with approximately 80% travel required.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required, and ability to meet Ascendis Pharma Vehicle Program Policy requirements.
  • Ability to comply with vendor credentialing requirements, including possible background checks, drug screening, immunizations, and training.
  • Preferred experience in an entrepreneurial or start-up environment.
  • Polished executive presence and strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with strong prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to compliance, accountability, continuous learning, and motivating teams to achieve results.
