Description

  • Partner with Account Executives to achieve sales goals and support opportunity progression.
  • Lead the technical evaluation stage of the sales process as the key technical adviser and product advocate.
  • Design and deliver high-quality technical proofs of concept for prospective customers.
  • Present technical and business solution details to C-level audiences and other stakeholders.
  • Represent Appian at customer meetings and field events such as conferences, summits, and seminars.
  • Build customer relationships and manage target accounts, including accounts spanning multiple Account Executives.
  • Translate customer business objectives into solution designs and proposed technical approaches.
  • Lead customer evaluations, workshops, and roadmap discussions with executive sponsorship and measurable success criteria.
  • Collaborate across internal teams to secure support and deliver technical goals.
  • Develop reusable sales assets such as demos, architectural blueprints, frameworks, and customer success stories.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a successful Pre-Sales Engineer or 10+ years in a client-facing Professional Services/Consulting role involving sales scenarios.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to customer locations throughout the assigned region.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage executives and technical decision makers.
  • Ability to understand customer IT and business landscapes, including ERP, CRM, data, workflow, AI, and partner solutions.
  • Experience designing architectures that integrate software into enterprise environments.
  • Ability to deliver persona-based demos and lead POCs/POVs with clear outcomes and executive sponsorship.
  • Technical depth to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs and RFPs.
  • Preferred: experience with Business Process Management platforms or Application Development platforms.
  • Preferred: recent programming experience in modern web or enterprise development systems.
  • Preferred: familiarity with production environments such as application servers, web servers, and databases.
