Description

  • Define active EO/IR system architectures through detailed trade studies and analyses.
  • Perform radiometric performance modeling and analyze atmospheric and environmental effects for land, sea, and air targets.
  • Model, validate, and refine system performance using laboratory, ground, and flight test data.
  • Develop physics-based sensor performance models and derive system requirements from those models.
  • Take ownership of prototype sensor system development in a lab environment.
  • Support laboratory-based and field-based experiments, tests, and demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and mission teams to define, integrate, and deliver systems to customers.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders across technical backgrounds.
  • Lead small teams of engineers from concept ideation through system definition and development as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience with model development and validation in domains relevant to remote sensing.
  • Ability to decompose complex systems into functional components with clear interfaces and requirements.
  • Experience in system design and development from initial concept through test and customer delivery.
  • Strong laboratory skills, including rapid prototyping and design of experiments.
  • Familiarity with opto-electrical test and measurement equipment.
  • Willingness to travel to test sites as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance.
  • Proficiency in analytical toolchains or languages such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Experience with industry-standard EO/IR modeling software such as MODTRAN, SPIRITS, or AFSIM (preferred).
  • Prior experience working with space sensors and systems (highly desirable).
  • Knowledge of advanced sensing systems and platforms (preferred).
  • Experience with active or passive sensing domains such as LiDAR, EO/IR, or Radar (preferred).
  • Experience with laser systems, including opto-mechanical scanning and beam steering techniques (preferred).
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical control systems and their verification methodologies (preferred).
  • Experience with LiDAR/Radar signal processing and real-time embedded platforms such as FPGA or MCU (preferred).
  • Space domain experience architecting sensors for space environments (preferred).
