Description

  • Partner with design teams to support design development and provide design-for-manufacturability feedback for composite assemblies.
  • Generate and review product data such as drawings, BOM information, and part requirements to support supplier quality success.
  • Apply knowledge of composites, additive manufacturing, fabrication, special processes, and inspection/measurement to support internal design and prototyping efforts.
  • Lead technical risk management, proof of concepts, prototyping, and design scaling for production.
  • Drive supplier quality development through design reviews, supplier process development, testing, and qualification for components and sub-assemblies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sourcing, category management, and program management to ensure predictable supply and manage exceptions, containments, and deviations.
  • Analyze key and critical characteristics, develop measurement systems, and support supplier qualification activities such as PPAP, FAIR, audits, and inspection development.
  • Partner with sourcing teams to improve supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, and fulfillment.
  • Own efforts to reduce supplier risk and improve quality and reliability across the product lifecycle through audits, readiness reviews, training, and documentation.
  • Support RCCA, MRB, containment, and SCAR activities, and drive lessons learned across the product team.
  • Audit supplier quality management systems and lead supplier onsite audits and reviews for quality and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a similar technical field.
  • Experience with composite assemblies and manufacturing of mechanical sub-assemblies for aerospace.
  • Experience scaling supplier capabilities and quality from prototype and proof-of-concept through low-rate and high-rate production.
  • Experience performing source inspection at mechanical manufacturing, aerospace, or defense suppliers is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management system requirements; AS9100 Lead or Internal Auditor certification is a plus.
  • Experience performing First Article Inspection to AS9102 and ensuring suppliers have capable control plans and inspection processes.
  • Experience driving supplier performance and evaluation, including SOWs, quality clauses, IP, and government regulations such as ITAR.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, quality improvement techniques, and GD&T.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive projects from start to completion.
  • Analytical skills for data mining, metrics generation, issue management systems, and statistical tools such as MatLab, JMP, and MiniTab.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% to suppliers, sourcing partners, and manufacturing locations.
  • Master’s degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • Experience creating material and process specifications for composites, mechanical parts, and sub-assemblies is preferred.
  • Knowledge of non-destructive inspection techniques including x-ray and pressure proof testing is preferred.
  • PFMEA experience and experience developing source inspection plans is preferred.
  • Experience with government contracts and MIL standard requirements is preferred.
  • Experience with Teamcenter, NX, Oracle/Netsuite, Jira, and Foundry is preferred.
