Description

  • Develop and deliver educational content that improves accurate and complete clinical documentation practices.
  • Perform retrospective medical chart reviews to identify documentation gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze performance data to uncover learning needs, trends, and systemic issues.
  • Lead diagnosis documentation education for clinical audiences and key practice staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to create and update educational materials, including reference guides, slide decks, and toolkits.
  • Conduct educational sessions in person or virtually for Aledade ACO member practices.
  • Synthesize findings into concise summaries and prioritized recommendations for improvement.
  • Review repository content annually to ensure alignment with CMS regulatory updates.
  • Research and stay current on clinical documentation, coding guidelines, and clinician documentation improvement practices.
  • Serve as a regional resource for appropriate clinical documentation and coding practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience, particularly in nursing or international medical backgrounds.
  • Current medical coding certification such as CPC, CCS-P, CRC, CCDS, CDEO, or CCDS-O through AAPC, ACDIS, or AHIMA.
  • 2+ years of clinical documentation improvement experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, CPT, medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, clinical indicators, and pharmacology.
  • Subject matter expertise in the CMS HCC Risk Adjustment program, methodology, and impact on value-based contracts.
  • Comfort presenting to large and small groups in person and virtually using tools such as Google Meet or Zoom.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize daily workload, and adapt flexibly.
  • Availability for market-specific events, including 1-2 Saturday events per year and occasional evening hours.
  • Active nursing credential such as RN or LPN, or international medical graduate background (preferred).
  • Experience working directly with providers in an outpatient setting (preferred).
  • Experience delivering clinical education and training using Google Slides or PowerPoint (preferred).
  • Ability to use clinical and quality data insights to identify improvement opportunities (preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of Medicare billing and coding regulations and CMS compliance standards (preferred).
  • General understanding of FQHC/RHC billing requirements and reimbursement structures (preferred).
  • Willingness to travel as needed, up to 25% annually, to headquarters or markets.

  • $69,000 to $90,000 base salary plus bonus and equity.
