Description

Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, including guiding engineers through ambiguous, open-ended work.
Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, and decision-making.
Identify project, process, technology, and business issues and lead efforts to solve them.
Support system operations and availability through metrics, escalation, and on-call or “keep the lights on” work.
Set and improve code review and design standards and advocate for quality practices through writing and tech talks.
Provide feedback, guidance, and mentorship to help develop talent on the team.
Work with partner teams across Europe and the US to support feature development and international expansion.
Help move key financial metrics for the business through improvements to payment processing systems.

Requirements

4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
Experience building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, extensible design.
Ability to write high-quality code that is easy for others to understand and use.
Experience making significant changes in a large codebase and building tools and practices to do so safely.
Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and a habit of proactively seeking feedback from team members, managers, and stakeholders.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.

Base salary range of £117,000 - £157,000 per year.
