Description

  • Design and evolve the internal developer platform that underpins backend development and the team’s Golden Path.
  • Own and deliver multi-quarter, high-leverage projects across CLI tooling, CI/CD, shared libraries, and test infrastructure as an individual contributor.
  • Build and extend developer CLI tooling to scaffold new component types and services end-to-end (service manifests, build configs, deployment charts, API defs, starter code, alerts, runbooks).
  • Improve environment and credentials tooling to make local development setup fast, reliable, and secure.
  • Design, maintain, and debug core backend CI/CD workflows and linting/formatting/typing tools; proactively reduce CI flakiness and runtime.
  • Steward shared Go and Python ecosystems by owning and evolving key shared libraries, frameworks, and their cross-service usage patterns.
  • Extend and improve test and release-safety systems, including automated canary analysis, test automation tooling, bad-test detection dashboards, and dependency-analysis utilities.
  • Contribute to automation that classifies and summarizes CI failures (including LLM-assisted workflows) to help engineers resolve issues faster.
  • Drive platform-level abstractions and collaborate with PM/TPM, infrastructure, SRE, and security to scope and deliver multi-team initiatives focused on simplicity and power for product engineers and AI agents.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Python 3.x, including CLI development (Click or similar), YAML/Jinja2 templating, modern typing patterns (typing, dataclasses/attrs, Pydantic-style), and testing with pytest.
  • Solid experience with Go for shared library and service development (gRPC/HTTP), CLI patterns (Cobra/Viper), and Go testing frameworks (standard library or Ginkgo/Gomega).
  • Proven experience with Protobuf/gRPC, including schema design/evolution and cross-language client/server generation and integration.
  • Experience with Bazel in a large monorepo, including writing BUILD rules, dependency management, and working with code generation for APIs/clients.
  • Familiarity with containers and orchestration: Docker image builds and Kubernetes concepts (Helm-style values, service deployments, readiness/liveness/health checks).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and a meaningful subset of services: object storage, Postgres, key–value/document stores, search, streaming/ingest services, Kafka, Redis, and IAM.
  • Experience authoring modern CI systems and non-trivial pipelines (matrix builds, reusable workflows, secrets/permissions) and a strong infrastructure-as-code mindset (YAML manifests, Terraform/Terragrunt-like patterns).
  • Hands-on experience configuring and tuning linting and static analysis tools (pylint, ruff, mypy, golangci-lint); experience writing or extending custom lint rules is a strong plus.
  • Preferred: prior monorepo experience, developer-experience tooling (CLI/scaffolding/internal frameworks), exposure to canary/progressive rollout systems (Prometheus/PromQL, Grafana), test-data management/E2E infra, Kafka, and experience or strong interest in using LLMs to improve developer workflows.
