Description

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of World Builders and Level Artists.
  • Partner with Art Leads, the Art Director, and Associate Art Director to maintain artistic consistency across the project.
  • Collaborate with Design and Narrative Leads to create immersive and believable environments.
  • Design and improve modular architecture systems for levels.
  • Provide objective, empathetic feedback and establish realistic development schedules.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the World Art Team.
  • Support the career growth, goal-setting, and performance development of artists on the team.
  • Create and manage asset lists with internal and external partner teams.
  • Coordinate workflow and interdisciplinary communication to support efficient world-building.
  • Work across design, art, engineering, animation, and audio teams to help deliver the game world.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in internal game development with an emphasis on environmental art or level architecture.
  • At least 2 shipped titles, with UE5/UE4 preferred.
  • At least 1 shipped title in a leadership capacity; AAA titles preferred.
  • Prior experience leading artists and managing career growth, goal-setting, and performance.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate clearly across multiple disciplines and locations.
  • Knowledge of 3D Studio Max, Maya, ZBrush, Substance, Photoshop, and similar industry-standard tools.
  • Recent experience using industry-standard game editors, with UE5 preferred.
  • Experience with industry-standard asset management tools.
  • Knowledge of classic drawing and/or painting techniques and the ability to sketch ideas on paper.
  • Solid awareness of spatial composition, proportions, and basic architecture.
  • Comfort working in an iterative design environment.

  • Expected base pay of $125,400 to $185,580 USD per year in California.
