Description

  • Design, build, and maintain automated test suites covering E2E, integration, and API-contract layers across the Rails backend and React frontend.
  • Own and maintain Playwright E2E test suites for critical user journeys (scheduling, provider workflows, huddle boards, patient lookups, authentication).
  • Collaborate with engineers on RSpec unit/integration tests: review test quality, identify gaps, and contribute tests as needed.
  • Define and enforce quality gates in CI/CD pipelines, including test pass thresholds, coverage floors, Brakeman/bundler-audit clean runs, and ESLint/RuboCop compliance.
  • Develop and maintain synthetic-only test data strategies (e.g., -SYN suffix, SYNTHETIC_ prefix) to prevent PHI in any test artifacts.
  • Validate data mapping correctness across dental practice management systems (Orthotrac, PracticeWorks, SoftDent, WinOMS, etc.).
  • Write and maintain VCR cassettes and WebMock stubs for external HTTP integrations to keep tests deterministic and offline-safe.
  • Review and triage Brakeman security findings and coordinate remediation with engineers before PR merges.
  • Perform exploratory testing in staging, file clear reproducible bug reports, maintain QA runbooks, and evolve the AI Code Review Checklist and related QA documentation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and maintaining automated test suites across backend APIs and frontend UIs.
  • Hands-on Playwright experience for E2E testing of modern React applications.
  • Solid understanding of RSpec with ability to read, write, and review unit/integration specs confidently.
  • Experience with test data management, fixture design, factory patterns (FactoryBot), and strict synthetic-data conventions to avoid PHI.
  • Experience with HTTP stubbing strategies (WebMock, VCR, or equivalents) and creating deterministic integration tests.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates (e.g., GitHub Actions), and familiarity reading Rails and React code to identify testable behavior.
  • Working knowledge of REST API design and ability to test endpoints via request specs or API clients independently of the UI.
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and practical understanding of the Human → AI → Human review loop, AI traceability, and validating AI-generated tests.
  • Strong HIPAA and compliance awareness: discipline around synthetic data, ability to identify PHI exposure risks in test code and PR reviews, and awareness of OWASP Top 10 risks relevant to tests.
  • Preferred: experience testing healthcare or dental SaaS, familiarity with DPMS data models, Azure Cosmos DB document assertions, TDD/BDD workflows, performance/load testing (k6, Locust), Kamal/containerized staging, Cucumber/Gherkin, or HL7/FHIR familiarity.
