Description

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, routing protocols, and switching.
  • Manage and update firewall configurations across the enterprise network to meet operational and security needs.
  • Deploy firewalls, switches, routers, and other network security devices in response to changing threats and requirements.
  • Develop and propose network security solutions for routing and switching challenges.
  • Improve security processes through documentation and change management.
  • Act as the primary resolver for complex network security issues and provide escalation support.
  • Keep network security systems, switches, and routers current with patches, firmware, and maintenance.
  • Monitor and respond to security events across cloud and datacenter environments, with emphasis on network traffic analysis.
  • Contribute directly in a hands-on, flat-organization environment and communicate clearly with teammates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in network security engineering with hands-on focus on switching and routing.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, TCP/IP, VLANs, ACLs, and secure routing and switching best practices.
  • Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and its network security services.
  • Experience with network analysis tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump, and vendors including Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto Networks.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation.
  • Certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, Security+, or CASP+ are preferred.
  • Relevant network certifications such as CCNP Security, CCIE Security, JNCIP-SEC, or PCNSE are preferred.
  • Experience in multi-cloud environments and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform is preferred.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices for network security integration is preferred.
  • Experience building custom tools or integrations for network security operations is preferred.
  • Interest in leveraging AI for network threat detection and automation is preferred.
  • Contributions to open-source network security projects are preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise eligible for required U.S. State Department authorizations under ITAR.
