Description

Lead and manage a team of 4–8 engineers within one product area or domain.
Own team delivery outcomes, including roadmap execution, reliability, and quality.
Partner with Product and Design to translate business priorities into technical plans.
Drive cycle planning, estimation, and delivery accountability.
Remove blockers and resolve cross-team dependencies.
Balance speed of delivery with long-term maintainability and system health.
Provide regular coaching, feedback, performance reviews, and career development support.
Hire, interview, and onboard engineers as the team grows.
Create a psychologically safe environment while maintaining high standards.
Escalate risks, communicate tradeoffs, and contribute to process and culture improvements.

Requirements

7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
2+ years of experience directly managing engineers.
Hands-on engineering involvement expected 50–80% of the time.
Experience leading teams of at least 4 engineers.
Strong track record of delivering complex software projects on schedule.
Solid system design fundamentals and architectural judgment.
Experience partnering with Product and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Ability to mentor and grow engineers across multiple levels.
Ability to navigate ambiguity and set clear direction.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
High emotional intelligence and ability to manage conflict constructively.
Experience scaling engineering teams in high-growth environments (preferred).
Experience managing distributed or remote-first teams (preferred).
Strong background in distributed systems or event-driven architecture (preferred).
Experience contributing to engineering process improvements at the organizational level (preferred).
Experience managing through technical transformation or re-architecture (preferred).
Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Nest.js, React.js, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Redshift, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, AWS, and DataDog.
