Description

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative UX research studies that inform product teams and feature decisions.
  • Proactively identify, define, and secure buy-in for strategic research projects.
  • Communicate research findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic partner to cross-functional leads and support adoption of research-based recommendations.
  • Inform planning and strategy by consolidating, analyzing, and synthesizing knowledge about users, products, services, and organizational needs.
  • Evolve UX research best practices and improve team processes.
  • Mentor junior individual contributors and guide contractors.
  • Document and share research process and results publicly with the Wikimedia community.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, engineers, and other researchers on high-impact research opportunities.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience conducting UX research within a product organization.
  • Proven track record leading impactful research projects in fast-paced environments.
  • Deep expertise in qualitative methods such as interviews, contextual inquiry, and diary studies.
  • Ability to conduct quantitative research end-to-end, including surveys, large-scale unmoderated testing, large-scale diary studies, or quantitative UX benchmarking.
  • Experience with experimental design and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with product teams to turn insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Master's or PhD in HCI, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Behavioral Economics, Linguistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills, including strong asynchronous communication.
  • Preferred: fluency in languages beyond English.
  • Preferred: experience contributing to Wikimedia projects, working on globally reaching products, working with international vendors and contractors, or working with volunteer communities.
  • Must be available for critical meetings and synchronous work between 15:00 and 19:00 UTC.
  • Must be open to traveling up to four times per year.
