Description

  • Own the full lifecycle of growth research studies, including scoping, recruiting, conducting, analyzing, and communicating results.
  • Design and run moderated and unmoderated usability tests, interviews, surveys, mixed-method studies, and longitudinal research.
  • Analyze behavioral logs, survey results, experimental data, community feedback, and other sources to validate hypotheses and identify research opportunities.
  • Identify user needs and adoption barriers across trial, proof-of-concept, and product adoption stages.
  • Model adoption behaviors and define relevant user personas.
  • Partner with Growth PMs and Designers to translate hypotheses into studies and deliver actionable findings.
  • Help test and validate designs, identify product friction, and recommend experiment and design ideas.
  • Work within the growth team’s experiment and A/B testing cadence while communicating progress and findings effectively.
  • Develop expertise in Tailscale’s product, growth model, acquisition, activation, pricing, packaging, billing, and SKU-related questions.
  • Progress toward independently identifying research opportunities and managing a growth research program.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in UX research or a related applied research field.
  • Strong quantitative research skills, including survey design, experimental methods, and statistical analysis.
  • Expertise in moderated and unmoderated usability testing and experience with one or more testing platforms.
  • Fluency in experimental design, survey methodology, inferential statistics, and quantitative data analysis.
  • Experience independently managing recruiting, scheduling, compensation, and other study logistics.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to tailor findings for product and engineering audiences.
  • Experience working in SaaS, B2B, enterprise, or technical product environments.
  • Background in human factors, behavioral psychology, or HCI (preferred).
  • Experience with growth or acquisition research, advanced quantitative user research, A/B testing frameworks, or experimentation programs (preferred).
  • Comfort with fast, practical research while recognizing when greater methodological rigor is needed.
