Description

  • Research, develop, design, modify, write, implement, and test software for population simulation.
  • Work with customers and end users to define project requirements and translate them into an achievable timeline.
  • Collaborate across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in back-end tools and technologies.
  • Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code, primarily in Java.
  • Recommend changes to improve established application processes.
  • Prepare and release software components.
  • Provide technical support and consultation for application and infrastructure questions.
  • Assist with architecture requirements and standards for design and development.
  • Consult with management and customers on product feasibility, viability, and design decisions.
  • Participate in product demonstrations, trade shows, seminars, industry panels, and user group meetings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a software engineering role.
  • Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software.
  • Strong coding ability with an emphasis on quality and testability.
  • Experience with Java and Python.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and software/application development processes.
  • Experience with continuous integration and software configuration management tools such as GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, and Nexus.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including query optimization.
  • Ability to acquire client requirements and resolve workflow problems through automation optimization.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with population simulation or other data simulation is desired.
  • Experience leading software development efforts across government modeling and simulation environments is desired.
  • Experience with geospatial engineering is desired.
  • Experience with big data tools such as Spark/Hadoop, Google BigQuery, AWS Athena, and EMR is desired.
  • Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure is desired.
  • Strong data visualization skills are desired.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance or eligibility to be cleared.
  • U.S. citizenship and residence in the contiguous United States are required.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%, including a two-week stay in Rome, NY and occasional trips to the DMV area.
