Description

  • Perform copy-editing tasks on assigned projects or accounts.
  • Perform on-demand translation tasks as needed.
  • Serve as lead linguist on assigned accounts.
  • Take ownership of deliveries translated internally or by external partners into the target language.
  • Prepare, manage, and maintain language materials such as glossaries, style guides, and work instructions.
  • Handle project-related queries and resolve terminology and language questions.
  • Coordinate with freelancers, agencies, and internal linguists on assigned projects or accounts.
  • Test, qualify, develop, and train freelancers, vendors, and internal linguists as required.
  • Interact with clients on linguistic matters and support workflow improvements.
  • Participate in quality initiatives, error arbitration, and process improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • University degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistic Studies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • If the degree is in another field, 2 years of full-time translation experience is required; or 5 years of full-time professional translation experience.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Native fluency in Japanese target language.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing.
  • 5+ years of review experience.
  • Thorough understanding of the localization process.
  • Excellent knowledge of terminology across various subject matters.
  • Strong user experience with CAT tools such as XTM and SDL Studio.
  • Experience with issue tracking and query management tools such as JIRA.
  • Ability to learn new localization tools and applications quickly.
  • Strong skills in standard software such as Windows and Office applications.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback.
  • Ability to coordinate internal and external translators and work in a virtual team.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and solve practical problems.
  • Experience communicating with customers at various levels and presenting information to managers, clients, and linguists.
