Description

  • Own key portions of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, deferred revenue, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Drive accurate ASC 606 revenue recognition for multi-year, multi-element software and deployment contracts.
  • Partner with Sales and Legal to review contracts and assess non-standard terms.
  • Prepare for and support the company through its first full external financial audit, including PBC schedules, working papers, technical memos, and auditor interactions.
  • Manage invoicing, accounts receivable, collections, and customer billing inquiries.
  • Own accounts payable, vendor onboarding, expense reports, corporate card programs, and 1099 reporting.
  • Manage corporate income tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and other state and federal filings with external advisors.
  • Own payroll operations, including semi-monthly payroll runs, payroll tax filings, benefits and 401(k) reconciliations, equity compensation accounting, and support for new hires and terminations.
  • Build and document scalable accounting policies and internal controls, with an eye toward future SOC readiness.
  • Improve and optimize the finance tech stack, including ERP, billing, expense, and AP automation tools.
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, GTM, Operations, and People Ops to keep financial data clean for reporting, forecasting, and Board materials.
  • Implement and maintain sales and use tax processes, including exemption certificate collection and remittance to taxing authorities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition for software and subscription contracts.
  • Experience owning a monthly close end-to-end, including reconciliations, accruals, and flux analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting an external audit, including PBC management, walkthroughs, and schedule preparation.
  • Experience with a modern ERP such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with billing, expense, and AP automation tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and process discipline.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with auditors, advisors, and non-finance teams.
  • CPA license or active pursuit of CPA is preferred.
  • Big 4 or public accounting background followed by industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience scaling accounting in a Series B or Series C SaaS environment is preferred.
  • Experience with hardware, edge devices, or blended software + hardware revenue models is preferred.
  • Experience supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance programs is preferred.
  • Experience automating manual close steps and improving close cycle time is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with modern payroll platforms such as Gusto, Rippling, Justworks, or ADP is preferred.
  • Experience with multi-state or international payroll is preferred.
